František Bílkovský byl malíř, grafik a ilustrátor, jehož celoživotní inspirací byli koně. Výtvarné základy získal u telčského malíře Antonína Václava Slavíčka. Vedle umění pracoval jako geodetický technik.
Kromě koňských motivů se věnoval i krajinám rodné Vysočiny. Vynikal jako grafik – vytvořil přibližně 400 ex libris a velké množství novoročenek. Jeho ilustrace doprovázejí více než stovku knih. Vedle drobné grafiky tvořil i rozsáhlé grafické soubory a volné listy.
Významná část jeho díla je dnes soustředěna v expozici Městského muzea a galerie Dačice, které jeho tvorbě věnovalo stálou výstavu.
František Bílkovský war ein Maler, Grafiker und Illustrator, dessen Lebensinspiration Pferde waren. Seine künstlerische Ausbildung erhielt er vom Telčer Maler Antonín Václav Slavíček. Neben der Kunst war er als Vermessungstechniker tätig.
Neben Pferdemotiven widmete er sich auch den Landschaften seiner Heimat Vysočina. Er war auch ein herausragender Grafiker – er schuf rund 400 Exlibris und zahlreiche Neujahrskarten. Seine Illustrationen begleiten mehr als hundert Bücher. Neben kleinen Grafiken schuf er auch umfangreiche Grafiksätze und lose Blätter.
Ein bedeutender Teil seines Werks ist heute in der Ausstellung des Stadtmuseums und der Galerie Dačice konzentriert, die ihm eine Dauerausstellung gewidmet hat.
František Bílkovský was a painter, graphic artist, and illustrator whose lifelong inspiration was horses. He received his artistic training from the Telč painter Antonín Václav Slavíček. In addition to art, he worked as a geodetic technician.
In addition to horse motifs, he also devoted himself to the landscapes of his native Vysočina. He excelled as a graphic artist – he created approximately 400 ex libris and many New Year's cards. His illustrations accompany more than a hundred books. In addition to small graphics, he also created extensive graphic sets and loose sheets.
A significant part of his work is now concentrated in the exhibition of the Dačice Municipal Museum and Gallery, which has dedicated a permanent exhibition to his work.
