Open Gallery: Time – Space – Unity

Výstava představuje pestrou mozaiku výtvarníků, jejichž život a tvorba jsou spojeny s krajinou česko-rakouského pomezí – místem, kde se dějiny, kultura i jazyky setkávaly, střetávaly a navzájem ovlivňovaly. Spojuje je jemné, často nenápadné pouto k prostoru, který není jen geografickou krajinou, ale i krajinou paměti, ticha a inspirace.

Setkávají se zde jména známá i téměř zapomenutá, autoři minulosti i současnosti, umělci, kteří zde žili trvale, i ti, kteří tímto krajem pouze prošli – a přesto ho otiskli do svého díla.

Výstava není retrospektivou ani soupisem jmen. Výběr autorů a jejich tvorby má postihnout souvislosti v prostoru, v čase i v důsledcích okolností. Stopa místa se stává pojítkem, které překračuje hranice – a zároveň je tiše stírá.

Neviditelná hranice je tak nejen připomínkou společné historie a sousedství, ale především prostorem pro dialog napříč generacemi, žánry i zkušenostmi.

Die Ausstellung präsentiert ein buntes Mosaik von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, deren Leben und Werk mit der Landschaft der tschechisch-österreichischen Grenze verbunden sind – einem Ort, an dem Geschichte, Kultur und Sprachen aufeinandertrafen, aufeinanderprallten und sich gegenseitig beeinflussten. Sie verbindet eine subtile, oft unauffällige Verbindung zu einem Raum, der nicht nur eine geografische Landschaft, sondern auch eine Landschaft der Erinnerung, der Stille und der Inspiration ist.

Hier treffen bekannte und fast vergessene Namen aufeinander: Autorinnen und Autoren der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart, Künstlerinnen und Künstler, die dauerhaft hier lebten, und solche, die diese Region nur durchquerten – und sie dennoch mit ihrem Werk prägten.

Die Ausstellung ist keine Retrospektive und keine Namensliste. Die Auswahl der Autorinnen und Autoren und ihrer Werke soll Zusammenhänge in Raum, Zeit und die Folgen der Umstände festhalten. Die Spur eines Ortes wird zu einem Bindeglied, das Grenzen überschreitet – und sie zugleich stillschweigend verwischt.

Die unsichtbare Grenze ist somit nicht nur Erinnerung an eine gemeinsame Geschichte und Nachbarschaft, sondern vor allem ein Raum für Dialog über Generationen, Genres und Erfahrungen hinweg.

The exhibition presents a colourful mosaic of artists whose lives and work are connected to the landscape of the Czech Austrian border – a place where history, culture, and languages met, clashed, and influenced each other. They are connected by a subtle, often inconspicuous bond to a space that is not only a geographical landscape but also a landscape of memory, silence, and inspiration.

Here, well-known and almost forgotten names meet authors of the past and present, artists who lived here permanently, and those who only passed through this region – and yet left their mark on it in their work.

The exhibition is not a retrospective or a list of names. The selection of authors and their work is intended to capture connections in space and time and the consequences of circumstances. The trace of a place becomes a link that crosses borders – and at the same time quietly erases them.

The invisible border is thus not only a reminder of a common history and neighbourhood but, above all, a space for dialogue across generations, genres, and experiences.
