František Šindelář

(1887, Čimelice u Písku – 1947, Moravské Budějovice)

František Šindelář byl malíř a pedagog. Ačkoli měl od mládí výtvarné nadání, na přání rodičů se nejprve věnoval studiu cizích jazyků a vystudoval filologii na Karlově univerzitě v Praze. Malířské vzdělání později získal soukromě ve škole Jaroslava Kubína. Působil jako středoškolský profesor – nejprve na gymnáziu v Třebíči, později také na na gymnáziu v Moravských Budějovicích.

Ve své výtvarné práci se věnoval figurální malbě, krajinám, zátiším či motivu květin. Byl vášnivým cestovatelem, a právě jeho zahraniční cesty byly častým zdrojem inspirace. Navštívil mimo jiné Sicílii, Turecko, Bulharsko, Francii či Německo. Z cest si přivážel nejen náměty pro své obrazy, dojmy zpracoval v knize Putování po Sicílii – mythus, historie a dojmy malířovy.

František Šindelář war Maler und Lehrer. Obwohl er schon in jungen Jahren künstlerisches Talent hatte, widmete er sich auf Wunsch seiner Eltern zunächst dem Studium von Fremdsprachen und schloss sein Philologie-Studium an der Karls-Universität in Prag ab. Später setzte er seine Malausbildung privat an der Schule von Jaroslav Kubín fort. Er arbeitete als Gymnasialprofessor – zunächst am Gymnasium in Třebíč, später auch am Gymnasium in Moravské Budějovice.

In seiner künstlerischen Arbeit widmete er sich der Figurenmalerei, Landschaften, Stillleben und Blumenmotiven. Er war ein leidenschaftlicher Reisender, und seine Auslandsreisen waren eine häufige Inspirationsquelle. Er besuchte unter anderem Sizilien, die Türkei, Bulgarien, Frankreich und Deutschland. Von seinen Reisen brachte er nicht nur Ideen für seine Gemälde mit, sondern fasste seine Eindrücke auch in dem Buch „Reisen durch Sizilien – Mythos, Geschichte und Eindrücke des Malers“ zusammen.

František Šindelář was a painter and teacher. Although he had artistic talent from a young age, at the request of his parents, he first devoted himself to studying foreign languages and graduated in philology at Charles University in Prague. He later pursued his painting education privately at Jaroslav Kubín's school. He worked as a high school professor – first at the grammar school in Třebíč, later also at the grammar school in Moravské Budějovice.

In his artistic work he devoted himself to figure painting, landscapes, still life, and flower motifs. He was a passionate traveller, and his foreign trips were a frequent source of inspiration. He visited Sicily, Turkey, Bulgaria, France, and Germany, among others. He not only brought back ideas for his paintings from his travels, but he also compiled his impressions in the book Traveling around Sicily - myth, history and impressions of the painter.
